The Honeybee Man is a family-run commercial beekeeping business based on the Hertfordshire/Bedfordshire border. We’re looking for an experienced commercial beekeeper to join our team for the 2027 season, working closely alongside our head beekeeper, Andre.
This is a varied, hands-on role for someone who is confident working with bees and enjoys being part of a small, family-run business. You’ll be our head beekeeper’s right-hand person, helping manage our apiaries and supporting the day-to-day running of the beekeeping operation.
The role will include:
- Regular hive inspections and colony management
- Assessing colony health, strength and development
- Swarm management and general husbandry
- Supporting queen and colony management
- Assisting with nucleus colony production when required
- Preparing colonies for honey production and honey harvesting
- Keeping accurate hive inspection and production records
- Driving between apiaries and transporting equipment as required
- General apiary and beekeeping equipment maintenance
- Working alongside our head beekeeper to keep the day-to-day operation running smoothly
- Taking responsibility for tasks and working independently when required
We’re looking for someone who:
- Has previous commercial beekeeping experience
- Is confident carrying out hive inspections independently
- Has a good understanding of honeybee behaviour, colony management and swarm control – knowledge of Queen rearing a bonus
- Is practical, reliable and organised
- Is happy working outdoors in all weather conditions
- Can work independently but also enjoys being part of a small team
- Has a full driving licence – essential
- Is physically fit and comfortable with the practical demands of commercial beekeeping
- Is comfortable keeping accurate records
- Has the right to work in the UK for the full duration of the position
