My name is Andre Cardona aka The Honeybee Man. I started beekeeping as a teen at boarding school and was fascinated by honeybees and the craft of beekeeping. After relocating to Hertfordshire from London in 2004 myself and my family set about creating our very own ‘Good Life’ – from vegetable patches, to sheep, pigs and hens, then fi nally honeybees and my very own apiary.
Since 2005 I have managed and tended to my own honeybees, selling delicious honey to local outlets and making a name for myself collecting swarms and relocating colonies. I have been known to be found at the top of a cherry picker, delicately cajoling bees from tops of chimneys, much to the delight of locals watching!
Like many of you I have followed the reports of the decline in the population of honeybees and felt that I needed to do something more to help protect these wonderful creatures and the hugely important part they play in maintaining our precious planet. Not only are honeybees vital to pollinate the food we need to survive, they also ensure the survival of many of the trees and fl owers that provide essential habitats for our native wildlife. Our family business now specialises in connecting businesses and communities with their environment via the essential art of beekeeping and sharing our knowledge and passion for the survival of the great British honeybee. Help us, help you, help them.
